The David Sassoon Library

Projection Mapping

Got to team up with the awesome folks at Floating Canvas Company and Meet Gala, a celebration marking the re-opening of the iconic David Sassoon Library and Reading Room.

This place isn’t just one of Mumbai’s oldest libraries — it’s a true cultural and architectural gem. After a major restoration supported by JSW Foundation and ICICI Foundation, it reopened to the public on June 2, 2023, looking better than ever.

To mark the occasion, Mumbai Light Festival was commissioned to create a projection mapping experience on the iconic facade of the library. Taking inspiration from the design and architecture of the building - including its facade motifs, vintage flooring tiles, glasswork, and woodwork - we created an experience that mesmerized viewers for three evenings and ensured that the iconic institution had a reopening to remember.

It was a real privilege to be part of the re-opening of the David Sassoon Library & Reading Room, creating a projection mapping experience that aimed to connect a new generation with this iconic space. Bringing stories to life on those historic walls was something I won’t forget.
